Simulation of Inertial Droplet Dispersion and the Spray Mediated Fluxes in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Above Waved Water Surface: A Lagrangian Stochastic Model Versus Direct Numerical Simulation

Lagrangian stochastic models (LSM) are widely used to model the dispersion of sea spray droplets injected from water surface into marine atmospheric boundary layer (MABL) and for evaluation impact on exchange fluxes between atmosphere ocean. While moving through MABL pass region high gradients air velocity, temperature humidity occurring in vicinity air–water interface. In this case, applicability LSMs constructed under assumption weakly inhomogeneous flows is questionable. work, we develop a taking account strongly structure airflow and, particular, anisotropy turbulence dissipation rate. The constants diffusion matrix coefficients calibrated by comparison LSM prediction profiles droplet concentration sensible latent heat against results direct numerical simulation turbulent, droplet-laden over waved surface.
